Treats Not Tricks! It’s Fearless Friday Y’all!

November 2, 2018 By rhapsodyville Leave a Comment

Saturday evening was the

beginning of what would be several

days of lots of fun times!

Fearless Friday treats not tricks will give a glimpse

at a fun no hassle week,

for once, in a long while!

Steampunk Fun

Ready to go!

The Cabana Boy decided that he would finally get it in gear, just suck it up, take a generous amount of supplements & meds, drink a large glass of orange juice šŸŠ with a little ā€œkickā€ 🄃, and haunt along with me. I will be doing a more in depth post on our costumes at a later date. Steampunk round 2! (Steampunk round 1 – 2017) Probably will pop up in October….next year – 2019, hahahaha! NO procrastination here, just perfection. I want it very detailed, so it takes a minute.

Steampunk for 2_1
Stop #1
Steampunk for 2_2
Stop #2 for the night

My sister and brother in-law dropped by for a day or two, so that’s always a treat. It would have been even better, had I been able to talk her into bringing hair clippers or a bottle of color. I really didn’t even try this time, though. I’m just going to have to make a trip to visit her….soon. Trying to decide on style / color… If you have suggestions drop them in the comments.

Best Treat Yet!!!!

Camper 10_2018

Can’t wait to get started on this project.

We’ve been looking for a camper for a while. I found one we went to look at on Monday. My new home away from home arrived in my driveway on Tuesday! This is my favorite kind of sweet treat for me – – – NO CALORIES! And it will be enjoyed for a while, not just once. This will be the inspiration for MANY post to come, I’m sure. It’s in great shape, but will be getting a glamping makeover! Besides all of the travel we will be doing in it. So ExCiTeD!!!!!

T or T with the Grand!

Sweetest face ever! Yep, prejudice!

Greer MDO Trick or Treat

Greer’s MDO Trick or Treat was a great success Tuesday morning. They take the children all around town to local businesses. The owners & towns people are happily awaiting them. My little Minnie Mouse was precious. I was blessed to be able to do this for the second year in a row.

Cathy Wilcox – Headed to BBLL on haunting’s…

Cathy Wilcox joined me on the next haunted outing.

We went to the Old State House

Halloween 10_2018 #5

Speaker: Brian Irby is an Archival Assistant at the Arkansas State Archives. He holds a B.A. and M.A. in History from UCA, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Public History at UALR.

Museum for a Brown Bag Lunch Lecture.

Our speaker for the day was Brian Irby. He spoke on other haunting’s last year, too. They do BBLL once to twice a month on various topics throughout the year. This one just so happened to be about places in Arkansas that are tied to stories that they might be haunted. Some of the stories have been totally debunked. A few have no explanation of apparitions, noises and ghostly appearances, all the while one was just completely creepy….

Old Mike 😳

Halloween 10_2018 #6

Story telling

That story was about ā€œOld Mike,ā€ who died in Prescott, AR. He was a traveling salesman. He arrived by train. No I.D. was found when he died in 1911. They embalmed him and put him in a casket on display for a while. To see if anyone would know him.?.?.? The funeral home was also the local hardware store. No one ever claimed him. He eventually ended up in a closet in the back. He was a local draw. People just came in to see ā€œOld Mike,ā€ so they were sent back for a look. Local school children even took field trips to see him. A circus tried to buy him, but the townspeople thought that would be inhumane. Every few years they would re-embalm him and put new clothes on him. (Eeewwww yuck!) After ArkansasĀ State Legislature put laws on the books, someone sought to have him buried.

Halloween 10_2018 #7

Old Mike – Bust

Which the town did in 1975, some 64 years after he had died. NOT creepy at all… But if you are ever that direction and would like to take a peek a replica bust of him is on display in Prescott’s Depot Museum.

Mount Holly Cemetery

Halloween 10_2018 #20

Trina with angel

After Cathy and I wrapped things up at the BBLL we decided to head on up Broadway a little piece to the Mount Holly Cemetery. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cemeteries in Arkansas, if not anywhere. It has some of the oldest graves around. If you are ever around it is worth the trip, especially if you happen to be a cemetery / history buff, which I happen to be a little infatuated with both.

Fun with Friends

Houseboat fall fun 2016

Wayne, Bill, Marie, Donna, Robert & Trina

A fun Halloween evening was wrapped up with wishing good friends farewell for now, as they will be relocating to Wisconsin next week. We were able to bid them farewell with steaks – hot off the grill, sweet potatoes, wine, a great visit and happy time. What a treat, no trick about it! We love you Bill & Marie and will miss you immensely! Be blessed in your new segment of life.

So, when the 30 year reunion was approaching we thought we’d try to make some of 3.Ā His class didn’t find enough interest to even plan one. Last year we had a small – medium turn out for Cabot High School 87 alums. A couple of weekends ago we converged on the campus and in a local venue outside the edge of town for two evenings of reconnecting.Ā

A HUGE “thank you” to all of those on the committee who worked so hard to make this event successful!

It was excellent to meet spouses. We shared fond memories, as well as made new ones. There were tales of children and grands, new loves and lost ones, heartaches and heartbreaks. Most of all there was an electricity that filled the air. The buzz that made us want to go to school, share a common bond, take care of our fellow classmates & friends.

Fearless Friday (FF) Funday Photo Shoot

March 30, 2018 By rhapsodyville Leave a Comment

Bright Eyed

Being silly!

Fearless Friday 1st

This 1st ever ” Fearless Friday ” was a Funday Photo Shoot.

Let’s just jump right into the deep end of something that doesn’t make me feel super comfortable….. A photo shoot, yep, not a natural. Much better behind the lens. Eyes are closed have the time. Bad posture. Pose too stiff. Mouth is usually contorted or open…..hummmm, who me???

I do a terrible solemn, serious, pouty face. Hell, I just end up looking pissed off or constipated.

(A.D.D. – song that just came on playlist is Attention- Charlie Puth -LOL)

Guess not having a good serious face is just the Lord’s way of saying I’m supposed to smile, a lot! So, I just had fun!

Have Fun, Be Fearless

Important

Professional photographs really matter for something as important as your blog and social media accounts. That is, if your goal is to have a brand that is recognizable and professional looking. It is an investment worth making.

Photo Creds

Jacob and Trina

Photographer becomes the photographed!

Jacob DeNomieĀ is an up and coming local photographer.Ā It was easy to work with him his is so calm and laid back. He is game for any crazy poses, ideas for looks or cool locations in Central Arkansas. He’d provide me with some great shots for the blog at an extremely reasonable price. So fearless or not it was fun! Thank you to June, Jacob’s Mom for being so hands on helping making everything go smoothly. She’s dreamy & maybe a new best friend with all the compliments she showered me with. She definitely knew how to make a girl special. I love both their hearts for animals. Maybe in the future we can work together on a possible fundraiser for some of the local animal shelters.

What Makes You Hesitate?

So, it’s Friday…. what will you be Fearless and do that could be super fun? You have to try something, new or not, but make it count!

St. Patrick’s Day Shenanigans

March 19, 2018 By rhapsodyville Leave a Comment

I cannot believe that I have never been to the First Ever 15th Annual World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Hot Springs, AR. My aunt won a contest on FaceBook from a local auto dealer to ride on their float. She in turn, invited us to come hang out in the VIP room and watch from the balcony. She tells me you have to dress up crazy. I do have a little Irish in my blood, my grandmother was an O’Sugg. So, I figure let’s do this. She says the parade experience is referred to being similar to Mardi Gras…..well, been there done that, game on!

What’s a Girl to Wear

Closet time – Yoda looked to be the most likely to succeed in providing the right colors for the event at hand, long sleeves would be great, being loose helps hide the extra fluff floating around the midsection currently, besides he’s my fav. I found him at a great little upscale resale shop out in Arizona two summers ago. Bought him for CB (Cabana Boy) for Father’s Day, but the first time I put him on I knew we were a perfect match! He completes me, js! Now, as for Lonette (the aunt), she was going to be riding on Riser Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep + Fiat Dealer Float. Doesn’t take much to inspire a reason for either of us to shop. She went and found a really cute St. Patty’s Day capris & tee outfit. (Someone else liked the capris, too. Perfect example of how to build a ā€œwholeā€ look, not just one item…..) #hownotowearluckyleggins #NOTsoluckyleggings

What & what NOT to wear……

This is Going to Get Good

On our way to Hot Springs she called to let them know when we would be arriving, got directions of where we were to meet and get VIP passes. While, on the phone, she asked if I could ride on the float, too. Yep, you guessed it Yoda made his debut in the First EVER 15th Annual Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

When we arrived we went to the depot picked up VIP passes and headed to the hospitality suite for food & drinks. Thanks Local Arkansas for ā€œTee’’s & Tasty’sā€, Bryan did a great job! After a little body fuel and refreshing; the sun was beginning to fade, time to find our way back to the float! What a trip that was!!!

On our way we were able to meet some our fellow parade participants:

Amanda Moore, David Parsons, Trina Welch, Cari Brady, Lonette Welch

Matt – Riser Dodge, Float Winners – Amanda Moore & Lonette Welch, guest – Trina Welch

I was a pleasure getting to know our fellow winners & float mates! Amanda & David knew how to light the night up, beautiful people.

Parade Winners

Parade Party **Winners** – Lonette Welch, Amanda Moore, David Parsons

My favorite of the day would have to be the majestic Clydesdale Budweiser Horses. They had been down at Oaklawn pulling the starting gate to the track this morning. They are so big and beautiful.

Clydesdale's

Clydesdale’s

Cheerleaders

Dallas Cowboy Cheeleaders

Time to land on our roost for the duration of the parade! Let’s get this party started. Joey Fatone was the Grand Marshall, but he was not the only center of attention the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders showed up. There ya go!!!

Ā Even More Fun

After the Sun Went Down

End of the line

And we are out…..

Grand Funk Railroad then took the stage!

Ran low on beads, started throwing mine I brought & wore that were from Mardi Gras…..

It was a busy afternoon / evening. I do know that I would not have worked out yesterday morning near as much if I had known that I would walk 5.97 miles, go up and down stairs, climb on and off of a float all the while wrapping it up with a great big dance party with Morris Day & The Time.

Morris Day

All I can say is it was a great day. If you can arrange it, be in Arkansas on March 17th, then head on over to the Hot Water city and drink in the day. We had a blast!

Lean In,

Trina

Some of the photo credits go to Amanda Moore. Thanks for sharing!

Redneck Rhapsody

March 13, 2018 By rhapsodyville Leave a Comment

Just what is Redneck Rhapsody???

If I have to give a reliable, proper blog response it is a Travel & Lifestyle Blog

In all actuality: It will be a blog about my crazy life that can go in a million different directions and sometimes it’s all on the same day!

LIFESTYLE

You can take the journey with me; which places to go (or not), restaurants that are a can’t miss (or total skips).

Hit the kitchen and churnger (turn) out a divine dish.

Grab up some flea market finds, do a little dumpster diving and power tool playing. Ā

The strand of creative that flows through this little Arkansas redneck diva varies in many forms.

I express myself with new hairstyles and colors, along with an eclectic wardrobe collection.

I love to design & make rhinestone clothes, making hand poured candles, painting, taking things that break & make something new, cooking, traveling, ect.

I LOVE good deals, so if I find one I will share!!!

When I find a FAV I will share those, too!!!

To say the least, I’m not really a boring chick, so I hope that you will enjoy the ride of rollingĀ through this middle age, hot mess I call life otherwise known as a Redneck Rhapsody experience.

TRAVEL

2016 started a series of travels that grew into a ton of totally great memories. I began to take notice on one our trips of details ofĀ Ā theĀ places where we stayed; restaurants where we ate and things that we would do. I was trying to decide what to do with all of that information and this blog is where it landed and has matured into. Luckily, it didn’t stop, 2017 was a year full of amazing, new experiences, too. Can’t wait to share lots of this with you.

I am staring at the windshield of being an empty nester; all the while being a grandparent looking in the rear view mirror (literally). So, where will this blog and 2018 lead me??? Well, your guess is almost as good as mine. I just know that things are going to change and I can embrace and lean in or I can stick my head in the sand and get swallowed up. I’m a doer, so I’ll put my boots on, saddle up, grab a hat, and get ready to ride…..

REDNECK RHAPSODY

I have been working on post over this past couple of years while traveling.

They will be mingled in with my Ā new adventures that will begin to unfold.

I will dabble in things like remodels, restores, makeovers, upcycles, paint, build, and break. We may do clothes, make up, hair, cooking, nutrition, fitness or health.

Wednesday’s word won’t be just for saints, but may not be for the faint.

Fearless Friday’s – Free for All – should be fun! Can’t wait to get this party started.

But one thing that is a must know is that I am a Kings kid. My Father keeps me grounded and safe. I plan on being eternal….BUT this AIN’T dress rehearsal. SO…I plan on living large, building great things, making terrific relationships, seeing, smelling, tasting, touching and LOVING as much as possible while I’m here! Let’s do this…

Well, look out here we go!
