WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF SUMMER?

What is your favorite part of summer? The weather, the activities, vacation time, or staycation? I’m going to hit a couple of highlights that make my chart as time worthy.
A Favorite Part of Summer That’s Not Too Pricey
One of our classic year round things to do that is low cost, in the AC, and snacks are cheap is Redbox / Netflix night. One of us picks a movie each week and we do movie night at the house. By the time summer rolls around there are usually several great movies that are just showing up to be viewed. We do actually go to a movie at the theater about once a month in the summer, so that’s an extra treat, too.
I can’t wait until June 14, 2019. Captain Marvel will be at Redbox!!! Yes! That was by far my favorite movie so far for 2019. If you are looking for a positive, girl driven, power flick that the men won’t mind, you can never go wrong with superhero “women!” She’s bada$$, js. Worth my time & money at the theaters. May even be worth the money to purchase, not just rent.
WHAT IS ANOTHER FAVORITE PART OF SUMMER
Travel, RVing, and visiting state & national parks is a favorite summer thing for us. Full disclosure, this will be our actual first summer to do any of this with an RV, so we aren’t sure just how “favorite” that will be. We usually enjoy hotel living while traveling, but we are going to try it a new way this year. We do love the lake and have a lot of weekend lake stays. I think the RV will be better than driving at the end of a long lake day, if we don’t have reservations on the WIT boat.
Arkansas State Parks
As my sweet friend, TheParkWife.com – Stephanie Buckley would say, “Sweet Mercy Y’all.” She lives up at Petit Jean State Park and is married to a Park Ranger. Arkansas has some of the most beautiful parks in the US. Here is the link to the Arkansas State Park site. There is a guide to get you in the right direction of what you are looking for in recreation, scenery, region, and things to do while your there. No matter the landscape you like, I’ll bet Arkansas will have a close match for you: Mountains, lakes, forests, rivers, plains, or ponds. All that we are missing is a desert and ocean!
A National Park in the Natural State
One of my favorite national parks in the United States is in the Natural State – Arkansas. Hot Springs National Park is practically in my backyard. It has great parks & hiking areas, but it is SO much more than a park. Whether you’re looking for casinos and nightlife, or lakes for boating & fishing. It’s all there. Hot Springs National Park has tons of thing to do, such as an Alligator Farm, Magic Springs Amusement Park, Garvin Woodland Gardens and the famous Bath House Row. So, look no further if you want a great place to stay with plenty to do.

Park Love
I feel that we are so blessed to live in the United States. We have such great state & national parks. We are history buffs, so we’ve visited many of the both. I want to thank all the people who keep them up, open, maintain, help them run smoothly and manage make them nice for us to spend time in. It’s easy to take things like this for granted, because they are “just” there. Although when the government budget issues were influx and it shut down, there were many National Park employees that were affected financially. People who went to the parks found some of them closed, which if you’ve been saving for a long time to go, it was devastating. But, I am grateful & appreciate all the fine folks that make these places rock, and continue keeping them beautiful.

What are your summer favorite things to do?
Drop a comment and let me know if you are a park person? Does AC and movies make your summer complete? How about travel are you adding a new state, country or continent to your passport this year? No matter how you spend it just remember when you do, this is what I do and encourage the fam to do:
- Learn at least one thing
- Try something new
- Leave it better than you found it

Don’t be too redneck & enjoy a little bit of rhapsody!
Be safe in all your endeavors and blessed!

Last summer will be hard to compete with both the good & sad.

I have two favorite things in summer. Hockey tournaments where I get to see some of my favorite moms and travelling to Canada to see family.
Yay! Girl hockey! We have friends whose daughter is awesome at hockey. My blogger buddy Jenn Summers with theOldSummershome.com is in Canada!
See it’s so cold here year-round they have hockey 😉 hahaha
Travel, road trips, catching up with reading, trying something new, new recipes, lots of things I teacher can do:)
A great post!
Hope it’s an amazing summer for you!
We enjoy movie nights too. Kids enjoy summer the most with outside activities, from going to the park, summer camps, pool time, and mini road trips.
Don’t we love those outdoor activities when they are younger to get all that energy out! Hope you have a great summer.
